The landscape of modern medicine is being redefined by biologics—large, complex molecules derived from living organisms. This refers to whether a pharmacist can swap a reference biologic for a biosimilar without the intervention of the prescribing physician. As more biosimilars gain this designation, the trust in their efficacy grows, leading to wider adoption. The future of this sector relies on maintaining a balance between rewarding the innovation of original biologics and ensuring the sustainability of healthcare through biosimilar alternatives.
